Give the option to log errors/messages to a log file in the app directory

Description

should work together with the logger plugin, maybe a setting to select between emails and log files. In a defined log directory maybe through the config.xml

You will be able to use the logEntry("severity","message","extrainfo") method to log messages to one or both of these logging facilities.
